The Year of the Horse evokes the images of being strong, hard working and free-spirited. I can just imagine the horse in olden time : transporting human across countryside and countries and over distances. What would people do without horses in those days!

Horses were valuable in communication, transportation, opening of new areas and expansion. Horses, for example,  played  an important role in the colonisation of North America.

Horses were also important during wars and invasions such as during Genghis Khan era of expansionism and destruction of established civilisations. Followed by the emergence of new communities and cross-fertilisation of cultures.

Such is the significance of the horse in the old days that it is honored by being given one of the 12 years in our Chinese calendar years.

Have a safe holiday!
